Swan Doors are pleased to announce a 60-minute fire-resistant-door option to the FireShield range. FireShield is a range of bespoke fire resistant composite entrance doorsets. Combining unique Swan through-colour facings with a stable, rigid, and highly durable core provides rigorous performance and unrivaled integrity.

What are Fire Doors?

Fire doors are a vital part of passive fire protection. In the event of a fire, they are used in order to prevent the spread of fire and smoke throughout a property. This is as opposed to active fire protection which involves the detection and suppression of fires. Other examples of passive fire protection are fire stops and fire walls.

Fire doors enable safe evacuation from a building under threat and so the inclusion of fire doors in certain locations within a dwelling is now necessary in order for newly constructed buildings to comply with building regulations.

FD30 and FD 60, What’s The Difference?

Fire doors are measured by the length of time that they can withstand the conditions they are subjected to during a fire; an FD30 fire door will be effective for at least thirty minutes, whereas an FD60 fire door will be operational for sixty minutes. All fire doors undergo stringent testing in order to ensure that they comply with the relevant codes and standards and so that customers can be safe in the knowledge that they will serve their purpose.

More Info

Swan Doors now supplies a range of bespoke fire doors with either a 30-minute or 60-minute fire rating. These are ideally suited for use in multi-occupancy buildings as entrance doors to flats and for use in stairwells and shared access hallways.

A choice of fire-safe hardware can be specified, in addition to specific measurements of width and height. Please consult one of our technical advisors for more details.

Environmental Management

It mean making the right window and door choice in today’s low carbon economy. It means putting environmental management at the heart of the decision-making process.

When it comes to door and window products, sound environmental management demands new thinking. Considerations range from the raw materials used in manufacturing, through thermal performance and maintenance requirements, right through to product disposal years later at end of a product’s service life.

In addition to being ISO 9001 accredited for the manufacture supply and installation of window and door systems, Swan Windows and Doors are one of the few fabricators to have also achieved ISO 14001 accreditation. This globally recognized environmental management standard certifies that the company has demonstrated the best environmental standards throughout every aspect of it’s operations.

What is ISO 14001?

The Environmental Management standards set out in ISO 14001 have established sustainability and the further reduction of environmental impact at the forefront of business development. The attainment of ISO 14001 at Swan is recognition for years of careful planning. Proper procedures and company-wide standards have been laid out and successfully implemented to achieve the goal of improved environmental performance.

With all PVC products made from lead-free profiles (containing no heavy metals), and all timber sourced from sustainable forests you can be assured that Swan’s products have been manufactured in the most sustainable and environmentally sensitive way possible.

Why is it important to be ISO 14001 certified?

This certification poses a great challenge for all companies worldwide in determining their impact
on the environment. The rigorous set of requirements make it difficult to achieve certification and few window and door companies are able to do so.

Being ISO14001 certificated allows Swan to prove the environmental credibility of the company and its products with an internationally recognised certificate. Furthermore, you can be satisfied that a partnership with Swan will enhance the ‘green’ credentials of your project.
